As it has done every December since 2006, Grupo <\/strong><\/span>Azvi<\/span><\/strong> has once again recognised the<\/span> merits, <\/span>efforts<\/span> and <\/span>good work<\/span> of its teams in the 17th edition of its Corporate Awards.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n This year the event was held at the Real <\/strong><\/span>F\u00e1brica<\/span> de <\/span>Artiller\u00eda<\/span><\/strong> of Sevilla<\/strong>, which bec<\/span>a<\/span>me a meeting point not only for the teams, <\/span>family<\/span> and friends of the Seville-based company, but also for the business, <\/span>financial<\/span>, <\/span>social<\/span> and cultural fabric of the city.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n During the event, prizes and awards were presented in the following categories<\/span>:\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n BEST WORK AWARD<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n The Best Work Award is given to the work <\/span>whose <\/span>technical characteristics, quality of execution, <\/span>compliance with <\/span>deadline<\/span>s<\/span> and fulfilment of client expectations<\/span> make it deserving of the accolade<\/span>. This year, the <\/span>evaluation committee <\/span>has <\/span>awarded<\/span> the prize to\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span> the<\/span> construction <\/span>project <\/span>of section<\/span> 3<\/span> of the <\/span>Tren<\/span> Maya in Mexico, linking <\/span>Calkin\u00ed<\/span> in Campeche with <\/span>Izamal<\/span> in Yucat\u00e1n.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The Tren Maya is one of the most important railway projects currently underway in the world and Azvi, through its Mexican subsidiary, Construcciones Urales, is proud to be involved in the construction of this 160 km section (100 km single track and 60 km double track) of the 1,554 km line that will cross the Yucat\u00e1n Peninsula and which will be completed in the coming months.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The project, in consortium with Grupo Indi, has been carried out in record time to meet the client’s deadlines and led to the creation of over 12,000 jobs during its construction. Some of the most remarkable figures include the use of more than 950,000 tonnes of ballast, 360,000 sleepers, 25,000 tonnes of rails and 96 pieces of track equipment. In addition, three viaducts of different types have been built, including the 320-metre-long viaduct over the M\u00e9rida-Campeche road. In addition, 34 level crossings, 73 underpasses and 80 wildlife crossings have been built, as well as transverse drainage works.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n During the construction of this section, Construcciones Urales was also responsible for the construction of the depots and workshops on section 3, in M\u00e9rida and Tulum, and Esc\u00e1rcega, Canc\u00fan and Chetumal respectively. The team, led by Ana <\/span>Gal\u00e1n<\/span>, project manager <\/span>at UTE Madrid Centro, has transformed the emblematic square of Madrid into a new, more <\/span>open <\/span>space, <\/span>eliminating<\/span> obstacles and <\/span>putting <\/span>the pedestrian <\/span>centre stage<\/span>, through <\/span>the <\/span>complete pedestrianisation<\/span> of the square<\/span> and <\/span>converging<\/span> streets. <\/span>The square\u2019s <\/span>main symbols have <\/span>also <\/span>been repositioned: the equestrian statue of Charles III, the <\/span>Bear<\/span> and the Strawberry Tree, the <\/span>Mariblanca<\/span> and the Km 0.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n All these works <\/span>were <\/span>carried out in an area <\/span>through which <\/span>250,000 pedestrians pass every day<\/span>. <\/span>Measures were taken to ensure they were able to <\/span>safely coexist with the ongoing construction works<\/span>, which have been carried out impeccably, completed on time and in line with our <\/span>objective<\/span> of zero accidents.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n SPECIAL MENTION<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n This year, the evaluation committee has decided to award a special mention to Jos\u00e9 Alberto Montero, <\/strong><\/span>the <\/span>head of operations in <\/span>Azvi’s<\/span> machinery department.<\/span><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Since his arrival in 2017, <\/span>Jos\u00e9 Alberto <\/span>has led a remarkable transformation of the company’s machinery fleet, which has even led to an increase in turnover. His proactive approach is reflected in the expansion of the<\/span> use<\/span> of machines <\/span>by<\/span> third parties and their integration in the company’s own <\/span>works<\/span>, working <\/span>in close collaboration <\/span>with the site personnel. He has excelled in strengthening the workshop, extending the life of <\/span>equipment<\/span> and <\/span>maintaining<\/span> rigorous economic control. He also led the internationalisation of the department in Mexico, actively <\/span>participating<\/span> in the recruitment of specialised personnel. His recognised prestige in the national railway environment and his total commitment to the company make him an exceptional colleague.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n INNOVATION AWARD<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n This year, Grupo Azvi also wanted to recognise the development of innovative actions in the execution of its projects. , Such is\u00a0 the case of the comprehensive infrastructure\u00a0 improvement of the Guadalmez-C\u00f3rdoba section of the Madrid-Seville high speed rail line, , where a series of ballast containment walls<\/strong> were implemented on site, used in nine double-track viaducts between Villanueva de C\u00f3rdoba and Adamuz.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Designed to contain the track ballast during maintenance work on the railway infrastructure, in this case waterproofing, these walls offer a manageable solution thanks to their reduced volume and weight, allowing the wall itself to be placed manually. In addition, they improved traffic safety by preventing the displacement of ballast during the driving of the wall, avoiding waste of material during removal and implementing preventive maintenance by not leaving behind foreign elements that could cause problems during future maintenance work.<\/span><\/p>\n QUALITY, HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT AWARD<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Quality, health and safety and environmental management are fundamental to all of us at Grupo <\/span>Azvi<\/span>. That is why we wanted to recognise the commendable work carried out in this area by our colleague <\/span>\u00d3scar<\/span> Artesero<\/span><\/strong>, Group Leader of the Civil Works Department,<\/strong> who has been awarded<\/span> this prize<\/span> for his outstanding contribution and exceptional commitment. Since <\/span>joining the company, <\/span>\u00d3scar<\/span> has <\/span>shown<\/span> a deep <\/span>connection<\/span> with the challenges faced on site, particularly in his area of expertise. His role as a tireless collaborator in the search for solutions to day-to-day problems has had a significant impact on the development of his projects, both in his <\/span>previous<\/span> role as site manager and in his current role as group leader.
