[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Association of Civil Engineers of Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla has awarded the first Prize for the Best Andalusian Public Engineering Project 2021 to the M\u00e1laga Metro, with the award going to the Regional Government of Andalusia, the Malaga Metro Concessionaire, the construction and consulting companies that have participated in these 17 years of execution, and a total of 52 civil engineers, recognised for their role in the project.<\/p>\n

The awards ceremony was held in Malaga and was attended by the Regional Minister of Development of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Marifr\u00e1n Carazo.<\/p>\n

Gabriel Pe\u00f1afiel, Azvi’s Director of Construction for Spain and Portugal, collected the award given to the Azvi Group and in his words of thanks he highlighted that \u2018today this city and its metro are a firm commitment to modernity and development\u2019, stating that it is to the credit of the administrations and companies that \u2018our region is at the forefront of prestige\u2019, and that \u2018today is a day of celebration for Malaga\u2019.<\/p>\n

Carlos Arias, one of Azvi’s site managers during the construction of Lines 1 and 2, also received an award as an outstanding engineer.<\/p>\n

At Grupo Azvi, we are very honoured to have been involved in this unique project from the outset, as we were awarded, through our concessions company Cointer, the concession contract for the construction and operation of Lines 1 and 2 of the Malaga Metro for the Regional Government of Andalusia, together with the Public Works Agency, Comsa, Construcciones Vera, FCC, Sando and Cajamar. Azvi participated in the construction with the aforementioned partners.<\/p>\n

Azvi has also been awarded several other contracts, such as track maintenance and civil works with Comsa, Matinsa and Sando; energy and electromechanical installations maintenance with EMTE and FCC Industrial; and, finally, track assembly in the superstructure works on the Renfe-Guadalmedina-Atarazanas section, which we are currently completing together with Guamar.<\/p>\n

On behalf of Cointer, Alfonso Budi\u00f1o, Managing Director of the concessionaire, was in charge of the Concession Contract for the construction and operation of Lines 1 and 2.<\/p>\n

As for Azvi, over the course of these 17 years, more than 35 colleagues have been part of the various teams working on the Malaga Metro project. Noteworthy contributions include those of Pietro Tucci, Tom\u00e1s Jodra, Manuel de la Cruz, Bonifacio Sanz, Jos\u00e9 A. Navarro, Juan Cabrerizo, Juan J. Jim\u00e9nez, Pilar Rodr\u00edguez and Juan M. G\u00f3mez in the infrastructure of Lines 1 and 2.<\/p>\n
