The project aims to restore the historic value of one of Madrid\u2019s most representative landmarks while integrating it visually and functionally into the wider urban fabric.<\/p>\n<p>The project, which extends from Puerta de Alcal\u00e1 to Plaza de Cibeles, including Plaza de la Independencia and Calle Alfonso XI and Calle Pedro Mu\u00f1oz Seca, has received approval from UNESCO, as it is located within the \u201cLandscape of Light\u201d, inscribed as a World Heritage Site since 2001.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Main actions include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reorganisation of traffic along Calle Alcal\u00e1 with two lanes for general traffic and one lane for public transport, promoting sustainable mobility and reducing emissions.<\/li>\n<li>Expansion and improvement of pedestrian areas, including the creation of a new central promenade along the boulevard.<\/li>\n<li>Restoration of the double row of trees.<\/li>\n<li>Creation and connection of a new segregated cycle lane.<\/li>\n<li>Improved visual integration of the Puerta de Alcal\u00e1 monument, reducing its isolation by introducing new pedestrian crossings.<\/li>\n<li>Remodelling of the gardens, restoring their 19th-century layout.<\/li>\n<li>Comprehensive renovation of pavements and roadways.<\/li>\n<li>Improved energy efficiency with LED lighting.<\/li>\n<li>New street furniture in keeping with the area\u2019s historic character.<\/li>\n<li>Enhanced universal accessibility and upgrading of pedestrian connections throughout the project area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At <a href=\"https:\/\/grupoazvinews.com\/en\/tag\/azvi-en\/\">Azvi<\/a>, we work to transform public spaces and improve people\u2019s quality of life, creating more sustainable, accessible and people-focused cities.<\/p>\n<p>We continue building the future.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Azvi, through the Madrid Centro Joint Venture in partnership with Licuas, has begun the renovation of one of the capital\u2019s most emblematic urban spaces: Calle Alcal\u00e1 and its surrounding area.
