As part of its mission to create more sustainable, cleaner, and more liveable urban environments, Azsuma has reinforced the urban solid waste collection service in the Mancomunidad del Sureste of Gran Canaria, covering the municipalities of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Agüimes, and Villa de Ingenio.
To achieve this:
- 61 next-generation vehicles have been added to the fleet, 53 of which will be operated by Azsuma—forming the most modern and advanced fleet in all of Gran Canaria.
- A mobile clean point has been introduced to facilitate the collection of special waste.
- New solutions have been implemented to prevent illegal dumping.
- The organic waste collection in the three municipalities is carried out using eight vehicles, in collaboration with the company Ayagaüres.
- Awareness campaigns have been launched to promote sustainable habits.
The Mancomunidad will invest over €105 million in the initiative over a 10 year period.
The new service was officially presented last weekend at an event attended by the Mayor of Santa Lucía de Tirajana and President of the Mancomunidad, Francisco García; the Mayor of Ingenio, Vanessa Martín; and the Mayor of Agüimes, Óscar Hernández. They were joined by Pablo Velasco, General Manager of Azsuma; Javier Cabello Llerena, Director of Operations at Azsuma; Juan Carlos Cabello, Director of Operations at Cointer (Grupo Azvi’s concessions company); Rafael García, Contract Manager; Antonio Díaz Estévez, General Manager of Ayagaüres Medioambiente; Miguel Ángel Sánchez Ramos, Head of Urban Services; and Iván Navarro Santo, Head of Service.
At Azsuma and Grupo Azvi, we remain committed to building a greener, more efficient, and more sustainable future.
