Grupo Azvi receives the PEC Award for Best Ambassador Company in Southern Spain

  • Grupo Azvi has been honored with the PEC Award for Best Ambassador Company in Southern Spain, a distinction granted by the Association of Entrepreneurs of Southern Spain (CESUR). These annual awards aim to highlight at the national level the excellence, innovation, and social commitment of Andalusian and Extremaduran business leaders.

The award ceremony, presided over by Her Royal Highness Infanta Doña Elena, was held at the new IESE auditorium in Madrid. During the event, Juan Bravo, Minister of Finance and Funding of the Andalusian Regional Government, presented the award to Manuel Contreras Caro, President of Grupo Azvi. The jury recognized the company for “its international expansion in Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East, with unique projects, some developed as a concessionaire alongside major global companies.”

Bravo emphasized that the recognition is due not only to the company’s achievements but also to its people:

“If Grupo Azvi receives this distinction as the Best Ambassador Company of Southern Spain, it is because of its human capital—the key to how a family-owned, Andalusian, and century-old company has become an international benchmark in its sector.”

He also acknowledged the work of Manuel Contreras Ramos, Honorary President of Grupo Azvi, for his nearly six decades of dedication to the company.

In his remarks, Bravo stressed the importance of empowering entrepreneurs and reducing bureaucracy:

“Entrepreneurs are the best ambassadors Andalusia can have. In every forum, debate, or business meeting, we need your voice and testimony to share how much Andalusia is changing. But for that, public administrations must first rise to the occasion.”

Other Award Winners
Alongside Grupo Azvi, other honorees included:

  • Antonio Huertas, President of Mapfre, as Best Executive Ambassador of Southern Spain.
  • Grupo Konecta, as the Company Most Committed to Southern Spain.
  • Dr. Luis Rojas-Marcos de la Viesca, internationally renowned psychiatrist, as Best Universal Ambassador of Southern Spain.

The jury consisted of institutional partners of the awards (IESE, Junta de Andalucía, Unicaja Banco, Junta de Extremadura, and Universidad Loyola), CEOs and presidents from Spain’s leading media groups (Atresmedia, Cope, El Confidencial, El Español, Europa Press, Grupo Joly, Grupo Prisa, and RTVA), and a delegation of CESUR entrepreneurs.

The ceremony was attended by Guillermo Fernández-Vara, President of Extremadura; Juan Bravo, Andalusian Minister of Finance and European Funds; Javier Fernández-Lasquetty, Madrid’s Minister of Finance and Public Administration; as well as 250 executives, entrepreneurs, diplomats, media leaders, and political representatives.

The PEC Awards alternate annually between Madrid and a province in Southern Spain, having been held last year in Seville.
