On April 21, we celebrated a very special date: the 30th anniversary of Spain’s first high-speed rail line.
That day in 1992 marked the start of commercial service of the first train connecting Madrid and Seville, a true milestone in Spanish railway history.
Since construction began in 1987, Azvi participated in three sections, covering a total of 160 kilometers, with an investment of €127.8 million. Three decades later, we can proudly say that Azvi has worked on more than 490 kilometers of high-speed rail across all the main lines that connect Spain.
To commemorate this anniversary, Azvi sponsored the SER Andalucía Meeting: Three Decades of High-Speed Rail.
The event featured the participation of the President of the Andalusian Regional Government, Juan Manuel Moreno, the Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, the Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, the President of ADIF, María Luisa Domínguez, and the Mayors of Seville and Córdoba, Antonio Muñoz and José María Bellido, along with numerous representatives from the business, academic, cultural, and civil society sectors of Andalusia.
The ceremony aimed to highlight the progress achieved through the first AVE line and to promote the continued expansion of high-speed rail as a key driver for the modernization of Andalusia and the cohesion of Spain.
