Azvi participates in the restoration of the historic mosaics at Chamartín Station

Azvi has participated in the restoration and conservation of the mosaics created by the renowned Spanish painter and sculptor José Lucas, as part of the transformation works at Madrid Chamartín Station.

These pieces, which form the artwork The Mirror of an Infinite Journey (1989), have returned to the station following a complex process of dismantling, conservation and storage carried out during the construction works.

The intervention required the numbering and dismantling of the tiles comprising the 22 murals, followed by their cleaning, packaging and specialised storage to guarantee their preservation. Thanks to this project, 13 of the murals have now been reinstalled in the renovated Chamartín Station, while the remainder are being held by ADIF for their future preservation.

As a result of this intervention, the mosaics have once again been integrated into the renovated Chamartín Station, accompanying thousands of passengers every day.

An example of how infrastructure transformation and the conservation of cultural heritage can go hand in hand.
