Pablo Benjumea, Head of Internal Audit and Regulatory Compliance at Grupo Azvi, received the 2021 ASCOM Award in the Under-35 category during the awards ceremony held yesterday, 21 December, in Madrid.
Each year, the ASCOM Awards recognise individuals and organisations that promote the professionalisation, dissemination and consolidation of the role of regulatory compliance in Spain.
In Pablo’s case, this award recognises his work and experience in the field of regulatory compliance as a professional under 35. It should be noted that Pablo also holds the CESCOM Compliance Certification and the Internationally Certified Compliance Professional certification, recognised by the member associations of the International Federation of Compliance Associations (IFCA). This is a professional standard that enables the competent and effective performance of compliance functions in any type of organisation.
In his acceptance speech, Pablo pointed out that “I would not be here today receiving this award if it were not for the company I am part of, Grupo Azvi, and its firm commitment to promoting a culture of ethics and respect for the rules. More than three years ago, the governing body of our company proactively recognised, despite not being required to do so by any regulator, the benefits of implementing a Compliance System, thus becoming one of the pioneering companies in certifying it in accordance with the ISO 37001 and UNE 19601 reference standards.”
