PTLA obtains international I-REC certification for the use of 100% renewable energy

Puerto Terrestre Los Andes (PTLA) received an important certification during the first half of 2022 (January–June), recognizing its commitment as a concessionaire company to the responsible use of renewable energy sources. This achievement places PTLA at the forefront of sustainability among the companies of Cointer Group, as well as within its sector in Chile.

According to Ricardo Ghiorzi, General Manager of PTLA, “this effort is part of our identity: conducting business with excellence while being careful and responsible with the environment. This certification corresponds to our electricity consumption at Los Libertadores Highway No. 415, El Sauce Sector, Los Andes — totaling 1,272 MWh of electricity generated from renewable sources by the PMGD Altos de Til Til photovoltaic power plant (Til Til, Chile).”

It is worth noting that this is not PTLA’s only sustainability initiative. Ghiorzi highlights that “alongside this certification, we carry out permanent wastewater treatment at our facilities, reusing treated water for irrigation in our green areas. We have also created and maintained a greenhouse for native and low-water-consumption trees. All these actions demonstrate that we are taking the right steps to protect the environment and our surroundings.”
