Chile’s Minister of Public Works, Transport and Telecommunications, Louis de Grange, alongside national and regional authorities, inaugurated the new passenger terminal at Balmaceda Airport. The project carried out by our subsidiary Urales Chile marks a new step in the operation and modernisation of this airport infrastructure within the Southern Airport Network.
The project involved the construction of a new 12,836 m², two-storey passenger terminal wihich features:
- 5 boarding bridges.
- 16 check-in counters.
- 2 baggage reclaim belts.
It also includes a new 4,633 m², two-storey car park with capacity for 154 vehicles, and a new thermal plant, electrical substation and pump room. New roads will improve access and circulation within the complex, and provide parking for 107 vehicles.
In addition, a new 32,418 m² aircraft apron has been built, increasing the airport’s operational capacity.
This project forms part of the concession contract involving Cointer, Grupo Azvi’s concession company, and the investment fund BlackRock, for the operation, expansion and maintenance of the Southern Airport Network, comprising Balmaceda Aerodrome and Presidente Carlos Ibáñez del Campo Airport, for a period of 32 years.
With the inauguration of these new facilities, due to become operational shortly, Grupo Azvi strengthens its commitment to developing infrastructure that improves mobility and connectivity and drives regional development.
