Seville and the challenges facing a major southern European capital were the focus of a new edition of the ABC-Azvi Forum, which included an address by Mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz.
During his speech, Sanz outlined some of the city’s main challenges, with particular emphasis on the need to move towards a more socially balanced urban model capable of reducing inequalities between neighbourhoods and improving residents’ quality of life.
Among the measures announced were:
- €379 M of investment across a range of initiatives in the city’s neighbourhoods.
- New urban regeneration projects and the elimination of substandard housing.
- The development of up to 7,000 homes, with a possible second term extending to 2031.
The Mayor also referred to delays affecting major infrastructure projects which, in his view, are limiting the city’s ability to achieve the level of mobility expected of a major European city. These include the rail link between Santa Justa and the airport, and the completion of both the SE-40 ring road and the Centenario Bridge expansion.
The event brought together a broad representation of Seville’s business, institutional and cultural communities. Representing Grupo Azvi were our Chairman, Manuel Contreras Caro, and General Manager of Azvi, José María Martínez Benavente, among other company executives.
