Cointer promotes solar self-consumption in its educational centres

As part of the Humanitas Group, Cointer has promoted the signing of an agreement with Nexus Energía for the installation of solar energy self-consumption systems in three of its educational centres in Madrid: Humanitas Bilingual School Tres Cantos, Humanitas Bilingual School Torrejón and Colegio Legamar, located in Leganés.

This collaboration will enable the installation of photovoltaic panels to promote energy and financial savings in each of these educational centres, as well as raising awareness among students and their families about what self-consumption is, how it works and its benefits.

The signing of the contracts between the energy supplier and the school group was attended by the mayors of the respective municipalities and the directors of the Regional Department of Education. All expressed their satisfaction with this commitment to green energy in education, highlighting the importance of these initiatives in the educational field and the commitment of the Madrid Regional Government to them.

Energy and financial savings from day one

The Nexus Energía self-consumption project will generate between 20% and 28% of the energy consumed by each of the Humanitas Group’s educational centres and will reduce CO2 emissions from the three centres by up to 84,100 kg/year, thereby minimising their environmental footprint. Each photovoltaic installation will provide an overall financial saving of €154,900 on the electricity bill over 25 years.

This is an initiative of the Humanitas Group, and therefore of Cointer, which links educational projects, strategic planning for the centres and the development of actions to instil awareness of energy sustainability in students, with the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
