In 2024, Traccion Rail – the Azvi Group company specialising in rail transport – has once again demonstrated its commitment to operational excellence, reaching a historic record in turnover. The company reported a 40% increase compared to 2023 and is forecasting an estimated 24% additional rise in 2025, which would mean an accumulated growth of 292% in the last five years.
This growth has translated into a 100% increase in both locomotives operated and workforce, and a 102% rise in kilometres travelled, reaching 783,000km, consolidating a strategy focused on efficiency, sustainability and operational expansion.
The fleet has increased from 11 to 29 locomotives, incorporating 16 new wagons and 16 standard- gauge (1,435 mm) flatbed platforms, and now employs a team of more than 70 people.
Milestones 2024
Over the past year, Traccion Rail has achieved significant milestones that further consolidate its position in the sector. Among them, the launch of the operation of the contracts awarded by Adif (in a joint venture with REDALSA and in collaboration with Continental), to carry out the driving services for its locomotives used in maintenance work and emergency response on the railway network, covering more than 462,000 km.
Under this contract, the company demonstrated its outstanding capacity to respond to unforeseen circumstances, minimising the operational impact on the railway network. It successfully carried out 15 emergency train relief operations for operators such as Renfe, OUIGO and IRYO, guaranteeing service continuity and passenger safety.
Traccion Rail also continued with the transport of the new turnouts required for the renovation of the Madrid-Seville high-speed line. Specifically, 21 transports were meticulously planned and coordinated to move 20 turnouts with a radius of 760 m and 24 turnouts with a radius of 10,000 m, over a total of 8,477 km. In addition, the company has also collaborated on conventional network freight services (1,668 mm gauge) between Lugo de Llanera and Villarrubia de Santiago, carrying out five services with meticulous planning and effective coordination.
The company has also expanded its presence in port operations, having received authorization to provide commercial service in the Port of Huelva.
Finally, it is worth mentioning Traccion Rail’s accreditation as a railway training centre, marking a decisive step towards professional development.
