Traccion Rail obtains the new single safety certificate to operate for another five years

Spain’s National Railway Safety Agency, AESF, has granted Traccion Rail the single safety certificate, enabling the company to continue its rail freight activities for another five years across the entire General Interest Railway network, on both conventional and international gauge.

This new certificate validates the Safety Management System (SMS) implemented by Grupo Azvi’s rail company, which includes all the necessary measures to comply with the specific requirements for safe movement on the relevant networks, in accordance with Directive (EU) 2016/798 and the applicable national legislation.

For the next five years, Traccion Rail will be able to continue the activities and services that it began in 2006, when it was one of the first companies in Spain to be granted an operating licence following the liberalisation of rail freight transport in our country.

Since then, the company has carried out services for a wide variety of clients and routes, including oil trains, biodiesel, hazardous goods, construction and maintenance materials for high-speed and standard gauge lines, as well as standardised container transport.

Among its recent milestones, the company, in joint venture with Redalsa, was awarded a 49.7-million-euro contract to operate Adif locomotives for maintenance and incident response on the railway network.
