- In a joint venture with Acciona, Azvi will build this 17.7 km section of standard gauge double track, which will have seven viaducts and 12 overpasses.
- Adif will invest more than 133 million Euros in the high-speed connection between Murcia and Cartagena
Azvi and Acciona have been awarded the platform construction works of the Riquelme-Torre Pacheco section, which plays a key role in this strategic connection between the two cities in the Region of Murcia and connects Cartagena with the Mediterranean Corridor, in line with the commitments made by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma).
The section to be built runs along 17.7 km through the municipalities of Murcia and Torre Pacheco and defines a new high-speed double-track platform in standard gauge (1,435 mm) parallel to the current Chinchilla-Cartagena line, in conventional gauge (1,668 mm).
Seven viaducts with a total length of 347 m, 12 overpasses, one underpass and 44 transversal drainage works are planned along the route. The project also includes various extension and remodelling works at the Balsicas-Mar Menor and Torre-Pacheco stations.
These works contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 9, which is to develop reliable, sustainable and quality infrastructures.
The platform construction works on the Riquelme-Torre Pacheco section are funded through the “Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. Funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU”.
