We have reached a new milestone in the San Sebastian Metro project with the breakthrough of the tunnel between Galtzaraborda and the future Pasajes station! This is a key step in the 2.2 km section being executed by Azvi for Euskal Trenbide Sarea (ETS), which now enters its final phase.
This advance completes the 744 m of tunnel excavation from the Galtzaraborda front, executed using the New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM)
The event was attended by the Basque Government Minister for Sustainable Mobility, Susana García Chueca, Vice Minister Miguel Ángel Páez and the General Director of ETS, Antonio López. They were welcomed by Carlos Puebla, Azvi’s Director of Civil Works.
We now continue with work on other key sections of the project:
- New Pasajes Station: Excavation has been completed. We are currently executing intermediate platforms and structural elements. .
- Altza – Pasajes Section: 940 m of the tunnel lining is complete Auxiliary installations and piping are being worked on, as well as the lining of the Sasuategi gallery.
- Pasajes – Galtzaraborda Section: Advance excavation has been completed. Excavation of the lower section of the tunnel will now be completed and work will commence on the lining.
