We show you the new logistics platform in Mérida, where Azvi has built an intermodal rail freight terminal with access to the 516 Mérida-Los Rosales line.
Our work consisted in the execution of:
- A 560-metre train reception and dispatch track and an 831-metre loading and unloading track, designed to accommodate freight trains up to 750 metres in length.
- Two branches connecting the terminal to the general line, one towards Mérida, 380 metres long, and the other towards Los Rosales (Zafra), 700 metres long.
- 526 metres of access roads to the freight terminal, linking the railway yards to the external road network.
- Container platform with two central storage modules of 250 m and capacity for 320 containers.
- Pile wall on the A-66 flyover.
- An office building and another for access control.
- Load transfer area for storage and handling of goods.
In addition, cuttings and embankments have been carried out to create the platform esplanade, structures, drainage, as well as the construction of a new pond for the conservation of the existing biological community.
The construction of this new terminal represents a significant improvement in the provision of rail freight management and logistics in Extremadura.
We continue to promote the development of more sustainable transport in our country.
