Azvi has installed one of the most distinctive structures on the new Altza to Galtzaraborda section of the San Sebastián Metro: the access canopy to Pasaia Station, popularly known as the “Coralina.”
Designed by the Norwegian architectural practice Snøhetta, this structure— inspired by the sea and conceived in the form of coral—brings together design, engineering and construction precision:
- Over 10,000 kg of stainless-steel rings, forming a pentagonal-hexagonal honeycomb structure for the canopy.
- Over 5,000 kg of stainless steel in the base elements and glass supports.
- Over 120 m² of glass, arranged across different planes to create the Coralina’s enclosure.
- 14 glass buttresses supporting the glazed structure.
A further milestone in this project, carried out by Azvi for Euskal Trenbide Sarea (ETS) in a joint venture with COMSA Corporación, Nortúnel and CAMPEZO Obras y Servicios, which continues to move closer to completion.
Infrastructure that connects. Design that endures.
