This milestone took place on 27th February in the presence of the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who has oversaw this important railway corridor, where Construcciones Urales is carrying out the track and catenary assembly in:
- Workshops and depots.
- Section I: elevated viaduct, on which the Zinacantepec, Pino Suárez, Tecnológico and Lerma stations are located.
- Section II: tunnel.
- Section III: from the Mexico portal of the tunnel to the Observatorio terminal, passing through Santa Fe and Vasco de Quiroga stations.
The project is now in its second phase of construction and operation, and during the President’s visit a test run was made through the 4.7 km tunnel, that crosses Cerro de las Cruces and connects Lerma station in Toluca with the new Santa Fe station in Mexico City.
Construcciones Urales has already installed more than 48 km of track and catenary along the entire line.
The participation of Construcciones Urales in the construction of El Insurgente, as the railway is known, consolidates Azvi‘s subsidiary in Mexico as a leading company in the development of railway infrastructures in the country, backed by the centenary experience of Grupo Azvi in the railway sector.
We remain committed to promoting sustainable mobility in Mexico!
