Azvi‘s work on the extension and remodelling of Chamartín station in Madrid continues to progress with the arrival of the train operated by Traccion Rail, which transported 22 270m-long and 60kg/mbars, totalling almost 6km and 360t.
The material, which was unloaded over three night shifts to minimise the impact on station operations, will be used for the installation of
- 4 new high-speed tracks (from number 22 to 25).
- 1 stabling track (number 26).
- All the junctions associated with the points.
The work at Chamartín also includes the construction of two new platforms (14 and 15), with their subways, and the development of the surrounding area.
The works are scheduled for commissioning in June 2024.
The project is being carried out in partnership with COMSA, VÍAS and Grupo San José.
We continue to make progress in transforming this strategic transport hub in Madrid into a world benchmark for sustainable mobility and intermodality.
