The Association of Civil Engineers of Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla, has recognised the Trambahía project as the Best Public Work in Andalusia in the II ‘Andalusian Engineering Works Awards‘. In addition, several engineers involved in the project’s execution, including Manuel Bejarano Carrión and Andrés Vázquez Gutiérrez, who are Group Heads of Works of Azvi and Construcciones Urales respectively, were also recognised for their contributions.
In the Trambahía, Azvi was responsible for the execution of:
- The construction of the track superstructure between Chiclana de la Frontera and San Fernando and La Ardila junction connecting it to the Seville-Cádiz railway line. Twelve and a half kilometres of track were laid on ballast and 1.1 kilometres on slabs.
- The construction of the stop at the Tres Caminos industrial estate and a cycle lane parallel to the route.
- The installation of turnouts at the La Ardila junction to link the tramway track with the railway.
- The maintenance of all the infrastructure and superstructure of the Trambahía, together with TECSA.
At Azvi, we are proud to have participated in the construction of this important infrastructure and to have contributed to providing the Bay of Cadiz with more sustainable mobility and better connectivity for its inhabitants, visitors and towns.
