Here are the latest developments in the expansion of Balmaceda Airport in Chile, a project that will transform the airport’s operations, regional air connectivity and the passenger experience.
Current status of the works carried out by our subsidiary Urales Chile:
- Final fit-out and execution of the building envelope for the new passenger terminal, which will cover a surface area of 12,391 m².
- Finalisation of the thermal power plant and electrical substation, together with the structural work on the car park building and the pump room.
- Construction of the new road network, designed to improve access and traffic flow throughout the airport complex.
The new terminal will feature:
- 5 boarding bridges.
- 16 check-in counters.
- 2 baggage claim carousels.
- A new aircraft apron.
This project falls within the framework of the concession agreement between Cointer, a Grupo Azvi concessionaire, and the BlackRock investment fund, to operate, expand and maintain the Austral Airport Network, comprising Balmaceda Aerodrome and Presidente Carlos Ibáñez del Campo Airport, for 32-year period.
