Following yesterday’s widespread power outage, Traccion Rail, Grupo Azvi’s rail transport company, and Redalsa, quickly mobilized an emergency operation. Acting within the framework of the contract they have with ADIF to operate their locomotives in maintenance and incident situations, the companies employed all their resources to restore normal service as quickly as possible.
Between 3:55pm yesterday afternoon and this morning, 9 stranded train rescues have been carried out in the south and northwest of the country, using ADIF diesel locomotives that are not reliant on the electricity in the overhead catenary.
Thanks to the rapid and effective intervention of our teams, High Speed service has been resumed on the following lines:
- Madrid–Sevilla
- Córdoba–Málaga
- Antequera–Granada
- Madrid–Burgos
- Venta de Baños–León
- Medina–Orense Junction
Operations such as this reinforce Traccion Rail’s commitment to the safety, operability and maintenance of the national rail network, always in coordination with ADIF and in response to the needs of the system.
