The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, has inaugurated the first 175-km section of Line K, running between Ixtepec, Oaxaca, and Tonalá, Chiapas. In this section, Construcciones Urales carried out the track installation and rehabilitation works, in partnership with Grupo Indi and Recsa.
During the event, the President highlighted the consortium’s commitment to ensuring that this key piece of railway infrastructure enters service on schedule, and meets the highest quality standards. Grupo Azvi was represented by its CEO, José María Martínez Benavente, and the CEO of Construcciones Urales, Alejandro Sánchez Castillo. Representing Grupo Indi were Manuel G. Muñoz Cano, Diana Muñozcano, and José Xavier Castro Sotomayor; and representing Recsa, Humberto Armenta.
Sheinbaum was accompanied by Admiral Raymundo Pedro Morales Ángeles, Secretary of the Navy; Rosa Icela Rodríguez Velázquez, Secretary of the Interior; Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation; Alicia Bárcena Ibarra, Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources; Andrés Lajous Loaeza, Head of the ARTF; Óscar Eduardo Ramírez Aguilar, Governor of the State of Chiapas; Edna Elena Vega Rangel, Secretary of SEDATU; Luz Elena González Escobar, Secretary of Energy; Salomón Jara Cruz, Governor of Oaxaca; retired Vice Admiral Octavio Sánchez Guillén, Director of the CIIT, as well as public officials and representatives from the business sector.
Line K of the Interoceanic Train is a strategic railway infrastructure project that will connect Ixtepec, Oaxaca, with Ciudad Hidalgo, Chiapas, on the border with Guatemala. Its purpose is to strengthen connectivity and transport across the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, promoting economic and social development in the region.
