Azvi is completing the formwork for the last 80 m of the 1,391 m sequential tunnel that will connect the Villaverde Alto and El Casar stations on the L3 line of the Madrid Metro.
For this work, we are using two formwork carriages measuring 15 m and 7.5 m respectively, which will advance 22.5 m per day. ,These will form and support the concrete structure. To place them inside the tunnel, assembly had to take place on the surface and they were subsequently lowered through the 40 m deep ventilation shaft.
Current status of the work:
- Diaphragm wall tunnel: 100% completed (697 m).
- Tunnel excavated using the traditional Madrid method: 180 m remaining of 605m.
- Pedestrian and railway tunnels between L3 and L12: 100% completed.
- Demolition of the L12 tunnel between El Casar and Juan de la Cierva and its reconstruction by means of a shielded enclosure: progressing well with a view to reopening to traffic in September.
Also:
- At the new El Casar station, we are working on the architectural work and the installation of escalators.
- The installation of fire protection systems, transformation centres, ventilation and other industrial equipment has begun.
- Final phase of emergency exits and ventilation and pump shafts.
Next steps: installation of rigid catenary and slab track.
Azvi is carrying out this project together with OSSA and COTODISA.
