Azvi advances in the transformation of Madrid’s Chamartín Station with the commissioning of 4 new High-Speed Rail tracks

Today marks another step forward in the largescale transformation of Chamartín station with the commissioning of four new tracks and the inauguration of the High-Speed concourse.

The Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, visited the station yesterday to see in situ the results of the works which have required, in their entirety, an investment exceeding €540 million. The Minister was joined by Grupo Azvi’s President, Manuel Contreras, as well as representatives from the other companies in the joint venture which we are executing these works with: COMSA, Vías y Construcciones and Grupo San José.

Today, the following enter into service:

  • The 4,600 m² high-speed lobby, doubling the original space.
  • Four new high-speed tracks, numbered from 22 to 25, and a siding, having received authorisation from the State Railway Safety Agency.
  • A subway passage that provides High-Speed rail passengers with a direct exit from the station.

Over the coming months we will continue to work on the major transformation of Chamartín station, always committed to sustainable and accessible mobility for all.
