The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility (MITMA) has featured the expansion and transformation project of Chamartín station in Madrid on its blog. Azvi is carrying out the project in joint venture with Comsa, Vías and Grupo San José.
The project includes the extension of two platforms and four tracks of the station’s existing standard-gauge track bed towards the east, as well as the renovation and expansion of the existing station concourse featuring a new pre-boarding lounge to accommodate the planned increase in traffic. Chamartín will have a main 18,000 m2 concourse and 25 tracks: 13 for conventional and Cercanías commuter network services, plus two additional tracks at the northern end of the station; as well as 12 for high-speed trains, plus one for parking.
Grupo Azvi is proud to be part of this emblematic project, which presents a great technical challenge that will position Chamartín station as the most important strategic transport hub in Madrid.
Thanks to the dedication and commitment of the Azvi team, this ambitious project will promote sustainable mobility and intermodality, efficiently connecting the city and its surroundings.
We continue to build roads to connect people and places.
