A new milestone at Chamartín Station! We continue to make progress in the transformation of the station with the opening of the underpass connecting the high-speed rail platforms with the central concourse for local trains and the underground.
This is a key step towards the transformation of this intermodal hub in Madrid. Yesterday from the project was visited by the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, and the Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Administration, Óscar López, the Secretary of State for Transport, José Antonio Santano, and the President of Adif, Pedro Marco de la Peña, accompanied by the Managing Director of Azvi, José María Martínez Benavente, the Deputy Director General of Risks, Victor J. Martín, and Azvi’s representative in the ‘Chamartín Extension’ joint venture, Marcos García Crespo, and Azvi’s Operations Manager of Railway Projects, José Luis Montero, as well as representatives from the other companies involved in the project.
Main features of the new access:
- 177 m long and 9 m wide, with a total surface area of 2,300 m².
- Built underneath the 12 high-speed tracks.
- Equipped with lifts, escalators, stairs, and information screens, ensuring passenger accessibility and comfort.
This new underpass provides high-speed rail users a direct exit on both sides of the station, significantly improving mobility and the passenger experience.
During his visit, the Minister highlighted the importance of this project within the broader transformation of Chamartín, which Azvi is carrying out in collaboration with COMSA Corporación, Vías y Construcciones S.A. and SANJOSE CONSTRUCTORA, for Adif.
Great work! Great team!
