Imposing concrete structures to preserve the karst formations in our work on the Maya Train

Karst formations, caused by the water erosion in the rock, are characteristic of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, where we are building Section 3 of the MayaTrain in consortium with Grupo Indi.

In order to protect these unique reliefs, and as part of our commitment to reducing environmental impact, the Construcciones Urales team is building  imposing concrete structures on which will be installed with complex and delicate manoeuvres, the metal bridges that will allow the track, and therefore the train, to cross the karst formations. .

Construcciones Urales, Azvi’s subsidiary in Mexico, was awarded the contract for the construction of Section 3 of the Tren Maya in May 2020. It is 180 km long (162 km on single track and 18 km on double track) and links Calkiní, in Campeche, with Izamal, in Yucatán.
