Azvi is currently building the new intermodal railway platform for the Dry Port in Salamanca.
To date, construction has been completed of the 16m-high and 227m-long earth retaining wall as well as the underpass beneath the N-620, for manoeuvres on the platform.
Significant ongoing works include the execution of the 49,000 m2 platform slab to be used for stockpiles and warehouses, and the superstructure which involves track works on both ballast and slab track in the container area.
The intermodal platform will connect the Salamanca – Fuentes de Oñoro conventional railway line with a six-track yard (five tracks and a stub track) which are designed to accommodate trains of up to 750 m in length.
The platform is set to become a logistics node on the Global Network of the Atlantic Corridor that will boost rail freight transport in the area, taking advantage of Salamanca’s strategic location to connect flows between Portugal, the Spanish region of Castilla y Leon and Northern Europe.
The project is being undertaken in consortium with Construcciones Martobar and Contratas THC.
